Houari Boumediene Airport d'Algers

Development and realisation of 400 custom made counters for the new terminal

Customer inquiry

The international Houari Boumedienne airport of Algiers (Algeria) built a new terminal T3. The scale and quality of project makes it one of the most prestigious airport projects of recent years. It was carried out by the Chinese contractor CSCEC. After an intensive selection process, INTOS received the assignment to realize the complete counter package of 400 desks.

Approach

The counters had to be modular, sustainable and affordable and had to be delivered in seven variants namely check-in, passport, transfer, boarding, ticket, information and airline desks. During an intensive development process, INTOS developed out of their five standard counter ranges types, namely the DINOX, a counter that exactly meets the requirements, wishes and infrastructure of the airport authority. The blade is made out of stone and the side panels of stainless steel. INTOS also ensured that the equipment could be integrated seamlessly in the desks and that parts of the desk would be easily replaceable.

From production to delivery on location took 3 months. The counters are produced in several batches and shipped in 15 containers in total. The installation of the desks was done under the supervision of INTOS and realized by the local installers of CSCEC.

Result

A beautiful terminal has been created with a variety of counters, but all with the same appearance, structure and materialization. The local team of CSCEC, during which many staff changes took place during the project, was after the project and after completion full of praise about the working method and cooperation with INTOS. Proof for this is the follow-up order for replacing 66 existing check-in desks in the Terminal 1 to be renovated.

"I am extremely proud that we were able to contribute to this prestigious airport project in Africa. The value of custom made solutions, which INTOS stands for, is well reflected in this completely new terminal. Our counters are closely linked to the defined work processes and infrastructure at the airport. And also give the terminal a powerful and homogeneous appearance", says Carlo Kastelijns, Business Development Manager at INTOS.
