Departure hall 1a Schiphol
Building a new departure hall at Schiphol
INTOS has been asked by Schiphol Group to be building partner in realizing the temporary departure hall, departure hall 1a. With this departure hall, Schiphol is responding to the strong growth of the number of Schengen passengers. This temporary departure hall of 3,800 square meters had to be fully operational within 200 days. A huge challenge for Schiphol and all six building partners, one which INTOS of course accepted immediately.
At a rapid pace, INTOS had to focus on engineering, planning and design, to make sure that there could be built day and night. INTOS manufactured 22 check-in desks including awnings, four service counters, a People Reduced Mobility (PRM) desk and an odd size counter. In addition, there are 550 square meters of acoustic wall panels created and put in place and two large curved walls in the security lanes are provided with Clipso canvas. Also, two space-saving visitation cabins are placed in the security area and tables and safes are delivered. Due to unforeseen circumstances, INTOS also replaced the complete floor of the hall.
The departure hall is opened April 4 2017, according to plan. Everyone, Schiphol Group and the other building partners namely; VolkerWessels Bouw Schiphol, Engie Services West, BAM Bouw en Techniek, BAM Infra and Van der Landen Industries, are pleased with the qualitative result created by the commitment and close cooperation of all building partners. The temporary departure hall can remain with the peace of mind, as expected now, until the end of 2019.
