INTOS creates the entrance of Hudson's Bay

INTOS creates the entrance of Hudson's Bay

Over the last six months, INTOS has worked for the Canadian Hudson's Bay department store in the Netherlands. For the 10 first Dutch store locations INTOS furnished all the cosmetic departments. In the meantime, these store locations have been opened successfully! So this is the time to look back at this unique project.

Hudson's Bay acquired ten store locations of former Dutch department store V & D at the end of last year in order to settle in the Netherlands. These stores are located in Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam, Breda, Leiden, Maastricht, Almere, Zwolle, Tilburg and Den Bosch. INTOS has been chosen to make the fixtures for the cosmetic departments.

Special fixtures cosmetic departments

In just a few months, over 1100 parts of fixtures are made for 7000 m2 of floor space. The variety in fixtures was enormous. A total of 58 very different types were made. A true eyecatcher is the tightly-shaped table with the beveled surface and the golden underframe. We also built all the walls that separate the different brands. The floor surfaces are accurately arranged, resulting in a nice coherence between the different fixtures.

Challenges

The project was challenging in all kind of ways. Due to the very short delivery time, the large volume, the distribution for the locations throughout the Netherlands and the coordination with the many stakeholders, including Hudson's Bay (HBC NL and Canada) and Galeria Kaufhof, the main contractor and project coordinator MVRO, the architect CallisonRTKL and the other subcontractors, it was a very interesting project.

Proud

"We are proud of the fact that INTOS contributed to the realization of this high-quality department store. In order to realise this project succesfully INTOS was preforming with 30 men at the same time at six different locations, even in the evenings. We have worked for one of the most beautiful departments, which serves as the entrance and thus determines the first impression of visitors from Hudson’s Bay. We are proud of the involvement of everybody at INTOS and satisfied with the final result," said Diederik Hein, director of INTOS.
